The Modern Retail Marketing Summit heads to Huntington Beach this April

Marketers don’t have crystal balls. But some days, it sure feels like they are expected to, as they are tasked with figuring out how to adapt to an ever-changing marketing landscape.
Given the seismic shifts happening across channels like SEO, influencer, affiliate and more, we’re especially excited to bring together top marketing leaders from both brands and retailers for our annual Modern Retail Marketing Summit, happening on April 20-22 in Huntington Beach, California. At this event, you’ll hear from speakers at top brands like Amika, Ruggable, Seed and more about how they are adapting to the biggest industry changes. You’ll also leave with the practical tips, strategies and connections you need to navigate this new marketing landscape.
We’ve assembled a group of speakers who we feel best represent how the next generation of cutting-edge enterprise brands has had to adapt to the modern marketing landscape.
At the Modern Retail Marketing Summit, you’ll hear from speakers on the main stage like Kristen Brophy, svp and head of marketing at ThredUp, which last year reported its best-ever quarter of new customer acquisition, and Amina Pasha, chief marketing officer of Thrive Market, which was recently named to CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list.
Richard Cox, chief merchandising officer at Pacsun, will speak to all the ways that the 46-year-old apparel brand is keeping a close pulse on the changing tastes of Gen Z, including through a youth advisory council and a new creator-driven app. And Lindsey Kling, svp of brand marketing at the recently acquired Coterie, will share how the premium diaper brand moved beyond transactional marketing to create a “parent-first” community.
We’re also introducing new features like working groups and on-site podcast interviews to give attendees more opportunities to network with one another, have deeper discussions on what’s working and what isn’t, and compile more content that they can refer back to even after the event is over.
Here are just a few of the big themes that we will be digging into at the Modern Retail Marketing Summit: There are, of course, the technological shifts that are upending marketing. New technologies like AI are forcing marketers to move faster, while figuring out how to get their brand surfaced in more Gemini or ChatGPT results. Third-party data signals are becoming less reliable, meaning brands have to get smarter about first-party or even zero-party data collection.
But there are also subtle but important changes happening on the consumer side. Shoppers are taking longer to buy or doing more research to ensure they get the best value. And in a world where more customers now say they’ve been burned by a brand they discovered through Instagram, it’s getting harder for companies to break through with big brand marketing moments and build trust.
All this while CACs are climbing, budgets are shifting, best practices for each channel are changing and every dollar needs to work harder.
In the coming weeks, you’ll hear more on Modern Retail’s website about who is speaking at the summit and what marketing topics they are excited to dive into.
If you are a brand or retail executive, you may qualify for a complimentary pass. Apply here to do so. All other interested attendees can purchase a pass to the event here.
